Birds in the Nature Park

Many interesting birds can be found in and on Nakskov Fjord throughout the year. Each season has its birds. During spring and summer there are many nesting birds, and in the winter months thousands of resting birds can often be counted. Below you can see some of the birds that you may meet in and around Nature Park Nakskov Fjord.

There are many good places to get close to the birds. During the breeding season, this is especially true on Vejlø which is known as the fjord’s ’bird island’. Throughout the year there are good opportunities by the Inner Fjord, where one often can get close to the ducks. Bird watching is particularly good during the bird migration, in windy conditions with low tide at Albuen. There are in particular many wading birds. Moreover, one can often get close to the birds on the fjord, when sailing by kayak.

It is a difficult and often time-consuming exercise to get close to the birds so they can be photographed. Therefore, many thanks to the photographers who have supplemented with photos.

By clicking on the pictures you can see the birds in large format and read about them.
